Maintenance Mechanic

Location: Rochester, NY
Work Hours: Monday-Friday; 8-hour days (40 hours/week).
Job Responsibilities: The Maintenance Mechanic will be a key maintenance team contributor to help maintain the facilities and industrial process equipment.
Tasks:
- Interacts with operations and maintenance personnel to determine process and equipment issues.
- Understands and effectively troubleshoots mechanical equipment such as (pumps, filters, steam straps, steam condensate systems, HVAC systems, motors, drives, blowers, conveyors, tanks, piping and valves, Kilns, Scrubbers, burners).
- Works on fabrication of frames, brackets, pipe supports, pump bases, etc.
- Aptitude to use power industrial trucks, hoist equipment, lifting straps, chains, shackles to rig equipment and transport safely.
- Understands and can troubleshoot component failures on equipment (valves, actuators, steam traps filtration systems); basic understanding of hydraulics, gears, belts, bearings, couplings, seals, etc.
- Works independently and as a strong team member, helping support all trades; flexibility to change based on priorities; willing to work some overtime, as needed, to support production.
- Possesses the ability to use hand, portable power, and precision measurement tools effectively; able to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently to occasionally lift/move 30-50 pounds.
- Fabricates and assists others in using shop equipment such as welded and threaded pipe segments, soldering copper lines (hydraulic press, pipe bending machine, pipe threading machine, grinders, bearing heater, drill press, lathe, mill etc.).
- Capable to maintain internal safety training requirements (confined space, lock-out/tag-out, etc.)
- Capacity to work at heights and in confined/enclosed spaces, utilizing PPE such as half and full face respirators; indoor and outdoor work assignments; and, ability to work off of ladders or scaffolding in awkward positions
- Maintains a clean, orderly and safe work areas at all times.
Qualifications: Formal training program desired, such as a certified mechanic / machinist / AEM apprenticeship program/equivalent military training or 5+ years of industrial Mechanical, Machinist or pipefitter experience.
Wage: $25-$33 per hour based on experience; competitive benefits; i.e., overtime, paid lunch, health, dental, vision, vacation, 401K, etc.
